The founder of the Rasos Colony

Joseph Montville was the founder of Rasos colony. In the18th century the colony of Rasoswas a park that belonged to a noble family of Čapskiai. Joseph Montville bought the land in 1898 and built a residential colony, that is now known as Rasos colony.

What to see and do here

The residential complex consists of 30 houses. The streets form a rectangle and are arranged according to the cardinal directions. The design of the houses was influenced by the idea of the urban garden, popular in Western Europe at the time. Each house, divided into smaller apartments, has a private courtyard where flowers and trees are grown.

This colony has a community center "SODAS 2123", which hosts various events, exhibitions and presentations of artists throughout the year.
